Getting Started
Steps to Performing Your Lipidomics Experiment:
1. If this is your first time using the lipidomics core or you are doing a new project/type of sample, download and complete a Lipidomics Consultation Form. Email it to [email protected] with a request for consultation.
2. After the consultation, if applicable, receive or order appropriate sample racks, homogenizer tubes, or vials for your samples.
3. Download the appropriate sample collection protocol and review collection guidelines for your experiment.
4. Download sample submission form. The video below is provided to help in filling out the submission form.

5. Perform your lipidomics experiment and document appropriate normalization value (cell number, mg weights of tissue, etc.) on the sample submission form.
6. Submit your samples with your name on the container.* If you are local, make an appointment to drop off your samples at 615 Charles E. Young S., BSRB 257, Los Angeles, CA 90095. If you are shipping the samples, pack with adequate dry ice on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to ensure arrival before the weekend.
*If you would like the leftover samples returned, please notify the core within 3 weeks of receiving the data package.
7. At the time of drop off or shipment, email the core with your sample submission form (tracking number for shipment, if applicable).
8. After your samples have been analyzed (about 4 to 6 weeks from delivery date), you will be emailed a data package. Below is a gallery of data package and a video to guide you in interpreting the data.
